Simis C Electronic Interlocking

Simis® C is a standardised microcomputer compact system for the creation of fail-safe signalling systems. The base units of this type of interlocking are fail-safe, compact computers, which operate according to the Simis® principle (Simis = "Sicheres Mikrocomputersystem von" Siemens; fail-safe microcomputer system from Siemens).

The modular design of hardware and software allows the configuration of both small- and large-scale interlockings. The electronic interlocking is provided with simple but powerful interfaces to other computer-controlled rail systems.

The Simis C electronic interlocking implements a large number of operating functions, including

running and shunting routes
    - priority and alternative routes
    - running routes with or without overlap protection

individual operator actions for points, derailers, relief signals and similar elements
local operation of points in temporary locally controlled areas
automated functions, e.g. automatic route call

Simis C benefits

Increased operational performance
Reduced outlay for infrastructure measures
Low operating and maintenance costs
Low stocking of spare parts through use of standard hardware
Optional installation in containers
High availability and reliability of hardware used
Compliance with all transport-authority regulations regarding operations and safety
System concept allows implementation of node and line interlockings
Connection of existing - including customer's own - systems, technologies and components possible
Standardised system interfaces ensure openness for module innovations
Reduced maintenance outlay through use of highly reliable hardware
Efficient maintenance through diagnostic and maintenance systems for on-line and remote diagnostics
