Traction Power Supplies
The whole testing area, the reserve sidings and the train formation buildings are electrified. In the shunting area, we work with diesel locomotives. The overhead line for DC and AC operation (2400 A, 25 kV) is in the form of a catenary with an RiS 120 contact wire, a messenger wire and a feeder line.

Test oval T1 is equipped with a conductor rail (third rail) of English design (i. e. covered at side and contacted from above). Test oval T2 and test track T3 are equipped with atouch-protected third rail at the side of the track. This thirdrail is contacted from underneath. The overhead line and third rails of test tracks T1 to T5, there serve sidings and the tracks of the train formation buildings can be connected to the different traction supply systems independently of each other. System changeovers and phase separation points can besimulated by means of electrical separation in test oval T1 for the contact wire and third rail. Mixed direct-current operation with 6-pulse and 12-pulse feeding is possible with the different parts of test oval T1 coupled or separated. Due to the combination of different traction supply systems, all the various types of system changeover are possible: namely, AC/DC, AC/AC and DC/DC.
