Siemens, Bombardier and Alstom to supply 28 ICE Trains with tilting technology to Deutsche Bahn

A consortium consisting of the companies Siemens, Bombardier and Alstom has signed a contract with Deutsche Bahn AG for the supply of 28 seven-car ICE T high-speed trains. The order has a total worth of approx. EUR420 million. The consortium leader Siemens Transportation Systems will receive approx. EUR256 million, Bombardier Transportation will get approx. EUR101 million and approx. EUR63 million go to Alstom. The trains will be delivered between June 2004 and February 2006.

For this new contract Siemens is responsible for the supply of the electrical equipment and the production of 91 vehicles. Bombardier Transportation will manufacture 105 cars: 49 intermediate and 56 end cars. The bogies as well as the tilting system are to be built in the Alstom plants in Savigliano, Italy. The trains will be manufactured at the Bombardier sites Görlitz and Ammendorf and at the Siemens site in Uerdingen.

The ICE T vehicle is a high-speed train using the tilting technology. It is designed for a maximum speed of 230 km/h. The trains of the series 411 will be used in the German long-distance traffic. Today the Deutsche Bahn has already 43 electric tilting trains of the first ICE T generation at its disposal.
