Siemens to supply the first subway system for Bangkok
The Bangkok Metro Corporation Limited (BMCL) and Siemens Transportation Systems (STS) have signed an agreement for the supply and maintenance of the first subway system of the Thai capital Bangkok. The project which is to be fully financed by Thai banks has a total value of EUR350 million. The delivery time for the subway cars and infrastructure is approximately 30 months. With this second large turnkey project in Bangkok, Siemens Transportation Systems (TS) consolidates its position in the Thai capital.

The project includes the supply of 19 three-car units and the complete infrastructure - signalling, power supply, communications and depot equipment - as well as the project management and the maintenance of the subway system over a ten-year period. The length of the new subway line in Bangkok will be roughly 20 kilometers, connecting 18 metro stations in the Thai capital.
