I am an Engineering Section Manager for Vehicle Control and oversee the work of my section employees within project engineering for electronic control systems and circuit engineering for railcars.
After finishing my degree in electrical engineering, I simply sent an application on spec to Siemens TS. I felt so comfortable during the interview and was so taken by the task offered to me that I said yes.
What fascinated me was TS' important role in society, the fact that it is driven by innovation and the large variety of tasks.
I was originally employed in project engineering on trams and metros. I, was, by the way, the first woman engineer to be employed by Siemens. That was back in 1977. Thankfully, things have changed a lot since then – today TS welcomes applications from women for the engineering profession.
What still fascinates me today are the ever-increasing demands made of all systems.
As an employee and manager, you are continuously challenged by new technology and the ever-increasing demands made by customers. Man management is of course always exciting. What makes Siemens TS such an interesting company is the fact you come across TS products in everyday life.
You board a train or tram and discover it was built by Siemens.
We recently handed over the Portuguese regional train to the customer. The project was a complete success. Commissioning was carried out in only two months, scarcely anything need rectifying and, most importantly, we achieved full customer satisfaction – and that with an excellent final result!
As a manager, I contribute to shaping the corporate culture at Siemens TS. In my department, I set great store by a culture of trust; I always try to involve my staff and give them the space they need.
TS is the place for you if you enjoy working in a team. We have superb products of great benefit to society – what more could you want!
