I joined Siemens TS in May 2002 as an intern. I am now participating in the Siemens Graduate Program.
As I studied industrial engineering, majoring in "Guided Transportation Systems" at the TU Braunschweig, Siemens TS appeared to me to be a suitable employer to apply to and build up the knowledge I had acquired at university.
During my period as an intern at Siemens TS, I worked in the Rail Automation MassTransit World department, which is involved in the processing of mass transit projects, e.g. subway systems.
In my case, I worked for almost two years on the Hong Kong project, where we installed a new signaling and control system for the local tram operator. I wrote my dissertation while at Transportation Systems working on the Tunnelbana Stockholm project.
As can be seen, we work in a very international environment and work in close cooperation with out colleagues in the Siemens local branches and project offices. In addition, interns and trainees are directly involved in the projects tasks and are assigned their own area where they are given the opportunity to develop.
So a company like Siemens offers practically unlimited career development chances and the benefits resulting from the international expertise of more than 360 000 colleagues around the world, whereby, of course, traineeships or other opportunities abroad are possible.
Employment as an intern offers a direct springboard for launching a career at Siemens after completing your degree. Besides the option of joining directly, The Siemens Graduate Program also provides you with opportunity to obtain a better insight into the company. In the space of two years, you learn about the processes, structures and interfaces of the company during your assignments in different functions.
