I was taken on as a software developer for interlocking logic.
My job involves adapting the logic for interlockings (control computers for rail signals, switches, and track vacancy detection systems) to conditions in other countries, for example, different SIMIS W interlockings in the Netherlands and China. My tasks include developing logical systems, simulation and testing.
I was interested in a number of companies, for example, because the tasks and the working climate appealed to me. Many factors finally swayed me in my decision for TS. The main factor was that TS, as part of Siemens, will make it possible for me to find many new interesting areas of work in the future.
I had already had two placements at TS and therefore knew that I would feel at home in the working climate here. Added to this was the fact that TS was also interested in my abilities and my personality.
During my work placement I was looked after by the human resources consultant. During a talk with her I said that I was interested in being employed by Siemens. A few weeks later she drew my attention to a job advert. I applied via the Internet and a few days later I was invited to interview. Two interviews took place and after a week’s consideration time, we agreed on my recruitment.
I believe it was advantageous that I was on the spot as a result of my work placement and I had a certain amount of corporate experience.
